Stories from the Twisted Life of Shattered

 Aug. 5, 2005
Well...there's been quite a bit that gone down in the last month...so we might as well start at the beginning. Moose Jaw was the first gig with our 'new' bass player, Denny. He was a tad bit nervous, but it didn't show, cause he was too busy kickin' ass. We had a pretty decent crowd both nights even though there were two other bands playing on River Street on this particular weekend, as it turns out we were told that we had the largest crowd all weekend out of the bands that were there - so hats off to you the fans for staying to party with us.

In true Moose Jaw fashion, we met a few new friends again as well. The third trimester Katimavik rotation came out both nights to party with us, and we chatted with Nova (Labrador), Carollynne (B.C.), and Marie-Claude (Quebec) and gained some insight into the Katimavik Organization. Very cool girls...glad we had the time to hang out, both before and after the shows. Thanks for breaking curfew to stay and see the show!! Now that's Rock 'N' Roll!

Thanks to the new owners of the Brunswick Hotel for having us, and we hope to be seeing you again soon!

This brings us to the Estevan Centennial Cabaret. This had the potential to be one of the best gigs we had ever played, and it was awesome but it wasn't without it's problems. Now don't get me wrong, we all had a blast and both bands played and performed well. The beer was cold, the weather was hot and the girls were scantily-clad. So what's the problem with this you ask? Well the sound production took a little getting used to. Usually for an event of this nature we would expect to have our live sound taken care of by a professional sound outfit, however it wasn't and problems ensued. Aside from the gruelling 5-hour soundcheck that killed most of the 35-degree day, there were other issues with bad mic cables and both bands shared in becoming troubleshooting agents for a few hours - even before soundcheck.

Once we actually got rolling, things went pretty smoothly for a while, then it seemed like the wheels just fell off...everyone in attendance had a great time, and the huge band jam at the end of the night was so cool...being that it was Estevan's Homecoming we caught up with people that we hadn't seen in a while...nice to see that people still take pride in where they came from.

After the gig was over, we retired to the jam room and stayed up for another few hours and ushered in daylight for the second or third time this summer. And being that it was already morning when we got up a few hours later, we continued the party until about 9 p.m. on Sunday night. Let's just say that work didn't feel good on Monday and detox was looking like a very viable option.

August is almost over, but we managed to get the opening slot for the Canadian Rock Legends PRISM when they rock the Beef Bar on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 25th. Hope to see all you rockers there...let show Estevan that we can still rock just as hard as ever!! Until we meet again...Peace, Love & Rock!!
